Ingredients

  • 1 sugar cube or a scant teaspoon of sugar
  • 2 cherries
  • 1 teaspoon water
  • 2-3 shakes angostura bitters
  • 2 oz bourbon
  • 1 orange twist

Instructions

  • In a rocks glass, whiskey glass or lowball glass, add your sugar cube, splash or water and your bitters. And if desired one cherry and muddle until sugar cube is dissolved. Alternatively, you can muddle a triangle of fresh orange vs a cherry or leave the fruit out of the muddling process.
  • Add in your bourbon (or whiskey) and give it a good 10 second stir.
  • Twist your orange peel over the glass to spritz the drink with the orange oil, rub it over the rim and drop it in.
  • Add your ice cube, an additional cherry, dried orange or fresh orange triangle garnish for garnish and enjoy!

Notes

If using simple syrup vs a sugar cube, you can choose to make your simple syrup from plain white sugar or for a more complex flavor, you can use brown sugar, sugar in the raw/ turbinado sugar or even Demerara sugar.
