Bacon Wrapped BBQ Shrimp with a Chipotle Mustard Glaze

Besides this delicious Bacon Wrapped BBQ Shrimp with a Chipotle Mustard Glaze I whipped up the other day, I have some great BBQ recipes to share with you inspired by the versatile flavors of El Diablo Hot & Spicy Mustard created for you by 9 of my fabulous food blogger friends from across the country to celebrate National Grilling Month...

I had SO much fun tasting the 6 mustard's I was sent by El Diablo (so did my husband as well as family members that stopped by during my testing).  El Diablo says they are "The mustard that bites back" and "Hot as Hell".  Some were hotter than others, all were enjoyable.  I think my favorite is the Jalapeno Mustard which I used in Baked Beans (so good), my husbands favorite is the Texas Chili (it really smells and tastes like chili) and my sisters favorite was the Mango.  They also have a Smokey Chipotle, a Habanero and a Steakhouse mustard.  The mustard's are serious fun, I can do SO many things with them besides just using them stand alone!

For me there is nothing like grilled shrimp to get a BBQ or party started, these Bacon Wrapped BBQ Shrimp with a Chipotle Mustard Glaze with delight your guests or better yet go great with a beer or cocktail sitting out back on a Spring or Summer evening with someone you love!  Enjoyy!

Have fun checking out all the recipes from my foodie friends!

Bacon Wrapped BBQ Shrimp with a Chipotle Mustard Glaze

Prep Time 10 minutes

Total Time 15 minutes
Course BBQ

Ingredients

  • 3 TBS El Diablo Chipotle Mustard
  • 3 TBS honey
  • 1 pound extra large raw shrimp peeled and cleaned
  • Salt & pepper
  • ½ pound bacon strips halved

Instructions

  • In a small bowl, whisk the mustard and the honey until combined.
  • Season the shrimp with salt and pepper, dredge the shrimp through your sauce and wrap each shrimp with a half piece of bacon. Lay the shrimp onto a baking sheet or large plate (bacon flap side down). Once you have all of your shrimp wrapped, gently run one skewer through the right side of 6 shrimp, then do the same with another skewer on the left side. The 2 skewer method makes it much easier to flip your shrimp, secure the bacon and control the cooking. Brush with your sauce and grill over medium-high heat with the grill lid open until done (about 5 minutes per side). Brush with additional sauce as you flip if desired

Notes

Colleen's Notes: If you want it spicier, only add 2 TBS of honey. If you do not have access to El Diablo Chipotle Mustard, any spicy mustard will give you a great flavor.

Only problem is that my Honey/Hubby is dreadfully allergic to shrimp (and crab & lobster ~ all of which I LOVE!) Still he really enjoys BBQing (year 'round even here in Chicagoland!)

In recent years he's really gotten into grilling vegetables ~ protein-wise we love to cook fish (especially tuna, salmon and halibut) and special occasion favorite would be lamb chops / rack of lamb) or on a more regular basis our new favorite "burger" ~ Lamburgers! I make them all kind of ways sometimes going French/Italian with garlic, shallots and either Roquefort or Gorgonzola mixed into the meat ~ or Greek with chopped Kalamata olives and crumbled Feta (sometime spinach too) right in the meat mixture...

But I digress... Love your recipe and thank you for this VERY generous giveaway!
