Edible Eyeballs for Halloween
I came up with these fun Edible Eyeballs 👀 for Halloween when my kids were very young. My kids (and their friends) were crazy for them! I have always LOVED to surprise kids through food! That coupled with the food allergies my children have kept me my creative juices flowing in the kitchen! So when I came up with these Halloween Eyeballs, we were all excited!
My oldest, my baby, my Connor will be 25 on his next birthday! I started making this fun Halloween treat when he was 4!! Like how has the time zoomed by?
This kid is my heart! I jokingly tell my husband "See I don't need you anymore...I have him!" I am not sure if my hubs actually thinks that is funny or not but I do!
Every year...every single year since then I have made thousands of these babies for Halloween Booing, for Connors' birthday parties and for school Halloween parties. Everyone expects them now.
This is a perfect recipe to have the kids help out with! They will feel confident in the kitchen. My kids were always particularly proud when THEY make them 🙂
I didn't invent putting chocolate disks on pretzels and popping them into the oven for a fun treat (thank you whomever did...SO smart), but I did come up with the first "eyeballs" made in that way anywhere on the net back in 2008! Connor always tells his friends that these are "famous"! So cute! I know this is a memory he will carry with him forever, and that makes me smile!

Edible Eyeballs For Halloween
Ingredients
- Bag square or oval pretzels (half the bag or more) I like Snyder's Snap Pretzels for this, however anything similar will work
- 12 oz white candy melts I like Wilton Candy Melts best, they melt the best in my experience.
- 1 cup chocolate chips more or less
- red jimmies
Instructions
- This is a super loose recipe. You can make just a small amount or a ton. Ingredient quantity depends on how many you are making.
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and preheat your oven to 300 degreed F.
- Fill your parchment paper lined baking sheet up with the pretzels. I like to filp them all to the same side (you can tell).
- One by one, add a candy melt to the center of each pretzel.
- Bake for 3-5 minutes, just until the candy melt gets shiny. You do NOT want them melting through the pretzel.
- Quicklt pop a chocolate chip int the center of the cany melts. Pressing just until its in and secure. Quickly place red jimmies on every eye, giving the illusion of bloodshot eyes.
- Allow them to set in a cold garage or room or fridge. Once set, store in an airtight container for up to 2 weeks.
