My daughter & I were talking about how to make an impressive dessert...FAST! So we whipped up this Cheesecake Topped With Sauteed Apples and boy was it ever a hit! That 62-pound-tween ate 2 huge slices in the blink of an eye!
If you know a week or more ahead of time that you are having people over for dinner, you can plan and plan what it is you want to serve, how you want your table o look maybe even what you are going to wear. However, what do you do of dinner is spur-of-the-moment? No time to let a cheesecake or mousse set or a even to bake a pie right? That's why a smart idea is to stash a cheesecake, cookies dough or even cake layers in your freezer. You just never know when the need will strike, so be prepared.
This Cheesecake Topped With Sauteed Apples can be made with a store-bought Sara Lee Cheesecake, or your own homemade version. This apple topping has got it going on...Mmmm!
The crazy thing is that when I first made this about a year ago, I needed a dessert, fast. BUT geez...this is impressive too, its gorgeous and can be a showstopper if you want it to be, plus your home will smell deeee-licious! Another perk is that it is so easy...a kid can do it from start to finish...Mine did, and she loved every minute of making it. The choping, the tasting...the tasting!
15 minutes is all you need to whip up the apples, dice them up, season them and get them nice and warm and soft. The smell alone will drive you crazy! Have some caramel around or want to whip some up? Do it!! Drizzle away and in no time you will be enjoying a decadent seasonal dessert. I'm thinking one of these will be at my house on Thanksgiving...but not for long!

Cheesecake Topped With Sauteed Apples
Ingredients
- 1 plain homemade or store-bought cheesecake
- 3 apples chopped (I like a mixed variety)
- 1 TBS butter
- ¼ cup brown sugar
- ½ teaspoon cinnamon
- Pinch of nutmeg
- Splash of vanilla
- Squeeze of fresh lemon
- 1 teaspoon cornstarch
Instructions
- In a saute pan, melt your butter. Add in the apple pieces and toss.
- Add in the sugar, spices, vanilla and lemon, stir to coat.
- Once the mixture bubbles, add in the cornstarch and mix until incorporated and mixture begins to thicken.
- Once apples are done to your liking (5-6 minutes), remove from heat. Let stand for a few minutes then top the cheesecake with them.
- Feel free to drizzle with caramel if you have it on-hand or feel like making some.
- Enjoy!
- I like the apples warm over-top, however you can also enjoy them at room temperature.
