There are few things as delicious or as comforting as a warm homemade apple dessert. Am I right?? These Easy Apple Fritters are a home run any time of the year! All you need are a handful of ingredients and in no time your kitchen will smell amazing and everyone will be licking their fingers!
Just a few pantry staples and a handful of apples are all you need to earn yourself warm, fragrant, decadent Apple Fritters.
Table of Contents
To me, comfort foods are like a warm snuggly blanket, a new pair of slippers or a great big bear hug from someone you love. These easy Apple Fritters are high up on that list!
The way I see it, a homemade sweet of some sort beats a pre-packaged cookie, sweet, candy or (gasp) Tastykake. As a gal from Philly, talking any kind of trash on any sort of Tastykake can get me into trouble, lol!
It only takes 10 minutes to make the batter as well as peel and chop the apples.
And just 3 minutes to make the glaze and a few minutes to fry them. Just like that you will be enjoying these hot, scrumptious, Apple Fritters. And you will definitely be licking your fingers!
These homemade Apple Fritters are perfect fall dessert recipe for when the mood strikes to make your family something sweet, delicious and warm! They don't take long to make either, which is a good thing in my book! And honestly they are delicious any time of the year.
Tips
- Cut apples into small even sized chunks
- Don't let a fear of frying get in your way when it comes to this apple fritter recipe. It isn't difficult at all
- I recommend frying one by itself at first so you get the rhythm of doneness down
- Make sure all ingredients are ready and your area is set up before you begin frying, allow yourself space
- Use a metal strainer like this or tongs to pull fritters out and place on a baking rack with paper towels or parchment underneath the rack itself to catch any drips
- Either dip the fritters in a glaze, sprinkle them with powdered sugar or roll them in cinnamon & sugar while still warm
- These are best enjoyed just after you make them while still a bit warm and freshly glazed
- If you enjoy peaches, make peach fritters or try blueberry fritters
Instructions
- To make apple fritters all you need are chopped apples, flour, sugar, salt, baking powder, an egg, milk, and spices. Plus oil for frying. The making of apple fritters is quite quick. Just peel your apples, chop them, make the batter, toss the apple in and fry them up in batches.
Do I need a fryer to make fritters?
- No, you can make these fritters in a pot with oil. I recommend using a deep pot, to avoid any oil splatter. You could also use a large pot however that would require more oil.
- If you do want to get a fryer for frying things like fritters, calamari, crab balls, etc. I really like this Cool Daddy Deep Fryer and feel its the best for beginners.
Can I bake fruit fritters?
- Apple Fritters, at least the apple fritters I make, need to be fried. The batter would never hold up being baked. They would end up as puddles.
Can I air fry apple fritters?
- Again, the same as baking. This batter is too liquid to be used in an air fryer. That being said, MAYBE if someone tinkered with it and used metal small ramekins or something, you may have success. They would however not be shaped like a traditional fritter, more like a small cake.
Frying Apple Fritters as described in this recipe post is the only option. There are variations that could be cooked in other methods however these are apple fritters as you would expect with crispy outside and puffy doughy insides.
How long are apple fritters good for?
Apple Fritters as made in this recipe post are best as they are made. The taste and texture are best while still warm.
Variations
I have made a Peach Fritter recipe as a variation to this Apple Fritter Recipe with delicious success! (Pictured below) as well as Blueberry Fritters.

Easy Apple Fritters
Ingredients
- 2-3 peeled apples 1 ½ cups when diced
- 1 cup flour
- ¼ cup sugar
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- 1 ½ teaspoon baking powder
- ⅓ cup milk
- 1 egg
- 2 TBS cinnamon sugar mixture 2 TBS sugar and 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- Oil for frying the fritters
Instructions
- Combine the flour, sugar, salt and baking powder, and whisk until combined.
- In a small bowl whisk the milk and egg until combined, add into dry ingredients and mix until just incorporated.
- Toss the apple chunks with the cinnamon & sugar and dump the mixture into the batter, stir just a bit to move apples around.
- Heat oil to 370 degrees.
- Fry heaping spoonfuls (or use a cookie scoop) of the batter (being sure you get apples in each scoop)until golden brown (about 2-3 minutes),
- If frying in a sealed fryer, shake basked around just a bit during frying to ensure even rotation of cooking. If cooking in an open frying pan/poy, flip fritters using a spatula or fork to ensure even cooking.
- Once fritters are removed from the fryer, place them on a cooling rack with paper towels under to catch any drips. If rolling in cinnamon & sugar, do so as soon as you can handle the fritters. If sprinkling with powdered sugar or dipping them in a simple glaze, allow them to cool a bit more.
- To make glaze simply combine 1 ½ cups powdered sugar, a splash of vanilla and 1-1 ½ TBS milk. Stir until smooth and drizzle over fritters or go ahead and dunk them in. If dunking them in, allow them to set for a few minutes and enjoy...they don't really "keep" that way. Fritters are best enjoyed soon after you make them while still warm. For best results fry in batches of 3 or four. I use a small cookie scoop to make dropping the batter into the oil nice and easy.
Sally says
Very quick sand. Easy. I love them

This recipe was simple and delicious 😋

I'm only 13 and it was so flipping easy to make!
Colleen says
Awesome to hear that Nick!! Keep on cooking!!
Becky says
I can’t see why you couldn’t substitute the flour with bisquit, the follow the rest of recipe.
betty says
Becky, I have read several of your comments... you seem to be an angry, unhappy person. PLEASE write some positive affirmations everyday. Not being mean just my observation and others also.

She just asked a question. Does not seem mean , angry .

Mind your business...not your concern. Becky can do her thing if she wants...but has no business criticizing and neither do you.
Joyce says
Wonderful. Turned out great. I ate 3 while cooking. Love the crunchy around the edges. Thanks for the recipe. I will make this again.
Colleen says
Thanks for the feedback and the stars!! Glad you enjoyed these!
Tracy Dennice says
But premade biscuits don’t taste like homemade. 🤷🏻♀️
Colleen says
Sorry to heat that Betty, maybe they were too large?
Linda Hicks says
Is the flour all purpose or plain, I was just not sure about it
Colleen says
All Purpose
Chad says
I've tried these with apples and now with blueberries (with some minor adjustments of course) and they're amazing both ways. the apple fritters are particularly amazing tossed in cinnamon sugar and drizzled with caramel sauce. my son wants me to try them with banana next. love the versatility of this recipe 👍👍
Colleen says
Fantastic feedback Chad! These make everyone have happy moments!! Curious to hear how the banana come out!
Bookkady83 says
May not be sweet enough. This batter is not very sweet, actually, just perfect. Excellent and easy to make.
Brandy hally says
Can you make these in the air fryer ?
Colleen says
Hi Brandy, No you can not. The batter would seep right through the basket.
Kara says
I'm not good at making sweets but this recipe is so easy. I just made about a dozen of these and there's only 4 left... So I'm guessing they like them. Thank you so much for sharing your recipe.
Colleen says
So great to hear Kara! Thanks for the comment!
V says
Easy peasy Apple fritter bite, thank you so much. I would attach a picture, but honestly these turned out exactly as you said!
Colleen says
Whahoo!! So glad to hear!
Janet says
I have made them several times
They are very easy and very delicious
Colleen says
SO great to hear! Actually making these this evening, once again, for dessert!
Marie says
1 heaping roughchopped apples what dido you do with them
Debbie says
Heaping rough chopped apples? Was this a error because in the beginning it says 11/2 cup of apples.
Colleen says
Yes!! No clue why that unfinished thought was in there...sorry! I removed it, Thank you!
Colleen says
I removed that unfinished thought from the recipe...I must have begun to type it twice. Sorry and thank you!
Patricia says
These came out like the photo and they tasted good but they didn’t have the crisp on the outside like you experience when you buy an apple fritter. I was careful to watch the oil temp at 380. What did I do wrong?
Laura says
I gave your apple fritter receipe a try 😀 they turned out awesomely yummy. Also for all the people asking about the apples read step 3 lol. I ended up using about a cup and a half of diced apples and an ice cream scoop to help batter not stick to the spoon when dropping in.
Colleen says
That's great to hear! I am due to make a batch this weekend 🙂
Colleen says
No, you really do need the apply chunks, they "make" the fritters. Using applesauce would create a very thin batter as well.
Vickie says
Could you use apple pie filling?
Colleen says
I think that would be to wet.
carol labue says
I use frozen pizza dough. let it rise, add sugar, cinnamon, apples and whatever else you like.( I hate making my own doug). For the glaze, I just put confectioner's sugar into a little maple syrup. Makes great fritters. I've done this with peaches and blueberries too. Just have to be sure the fruit isn't too juicy or the outcome is drippy.
Colleen says
Sounds delicious! Thanks!
Bookkady83 says
May not be sweet enough. This batter is not very sweet, actually, just perfect. Excellent and easy to make.
Colleen says
Yup, the apples are sweet and is the drizzle, so the batter is not too sweet or else it would be "too much" IMO.
Carla says
Lovely. Just tried it, but found I had to use a bit more milk to get the right consistency.
Marian says
Is this all purpose flour?
Colleen says
Yes, it is.
Göran says
Could just canned apple compote be used? Easier, quicker and matbe btter capturing the slightly gooey appleness of higher quality bakery fritters?
Colleen says
I honestly don't know. I'd love to know if it worked. If one can get out of peeling apples...why not, lol!
Amy Jo says
Could you just chop the apple with peel on? I baked a pie once and did that because I had forgotten I volunteered to bring a pie, lol. I figured I could blame it on being a blonde:) It was delicious as always and nobody even noticed!
Colleen says
Sure!
Cristie Spring says
This is a delicious recipe. I used buttermilk instead of milk. I added a couple of extra tablespoons of buttermilk because the batter was so thick.my husband had the brilliant idea of dipping a half of a banana in the batter and frying it, which was delicious. I used 1/4 cup of brown sugar and 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon to coat the apples, instead of the 1/4 cup granulated sugar that the recipe calls for.
Colleen says
OMGosh, your husband is brilliant! I am so trying that next time!
Sandy says
I ALWAYS fry bananas whenever I make fried chicken. I sprinkle the fried bananas with powdered sugar and my family devours with the chicken.
Colleen says
Yum!!!
Lystra says
Can this be baked instead of fried? I really hate frying and I want this to be a little easier on the conscience if you know what I mean....
Colleen says
I have not tried to do that. And I only make this indulgence once or twice a year. I did a quick search and found these - they look good, maybe give them a try and let me know what you think! http://thebakermama.com/recipes/baked-apple-fritters/
Charlesknauf says
Try them in a muffin pan.
Kathlene says
I love the recipe. I added, cut in half, maraschino cherries.
I have a question though. My fritters aren't crisp after I let them sit on a backing rack and drizzle glaze. They soften up. What can I do so they stay crispy.
Colleen says
Nice variation Kathlene. The only thing I can think of is to not glaze them until ready to enjoy. That would make them hold up better.
Sandy says
Could it be the size of the diced apples? Do you need to have them like a 1” - 2”size dice to give more peaks to the fritters to crisp up? I’m making this recipe tonight so I’ll test to see. My family is already salivating LOL.
Colleen says
1/2 inch to 1 inch Diced is good, no larger than 1 inch I would say. Enjoy!
Colleen says
SO glad to hear it!! Thanks Cathy!
Margaret says
The flavor is great I put about 1/2 tap 9f cinnamon 8n the batter as well I agree a little more milk but easy and good as is thank you
Leanne Motes says
What kind of oil did you use?
Colleen says
I use Vegetable oil.
Lisa says
Sounds just like what I want with the buttermilk. Can I use pancake mix with buttermilk being sure to keep it on the thick side.mix the Apple mixture to that and then fry?
Nancy says
Made these for breakfast this morning. Yummy I will be making again. I love Apple fritters. Batter was little thick so I thinned it out with a little more milk. Didn't think of buttermilk. Will try it next time.
Colleen says
Good to hear! A delicious way to start the day (I have to say I am a little jealous!!)
Diane Russo says
What is the cinnamon sugar exact measurements? I used 2 tablespoons sugar and @ 3/4 tablespoons cinnamon. Came out too cinnamon-y and fritters were very dark.
Colleen says
I don't ever measure that I guess. I would have to remake and measure that out. I think I typically do 3 1/2 parts sugar to 1/2 part cinnamon.
holly says
what kind of apples do you use?
Colleen says
Hi Holly, I typically use Granny Smith Apples.
Jody says
Would any other apples work?
Colleen says
Hi Jody, sure you can use any variety of apples you have on-hand. if they are more tart, you may want to add a little extra sugar.
Ashley says
What a treat these were. But like most others, i had to add more milk, the batter
Really was too thick. Thanks! Yum!
Colleen says
Glad you enjoyed them and tweaked them to your liking!
Jay says
These are absolutely delicious. I made them today for the Fourth of July and the glaze with the apples is just Heavenly. Thank you for the recipe!!!!❤️
Colleen says
Fantastic! Happy to hear and thanks for the feedback!
Trudy Kurz says

These are sooo good! My hubby begs for these!
Janette says
Whipped up a small batch tonight. So easy and simple to do. P.S. Hubby loved the taste of them he said they taste like bakery apple fritters. Great recipe. will eat the rest tomorrow for breakfast.
April says
Can I put scrambled eggs and sausage and potatoes and cheese in the batter and make breakfast fritters?
Carolyn R Gentner says
Hi sounds genius to me?!!!!!!!!
Ronda says
I made these tonight. I eyeballed the sugar n cinnamon. They're GONE! One thing I did do because I was out of vanilla extract, I substituted lemon extract. Try it! They were delicous! Some glaze only, some both and some cinnamon sugar.
P.S. i didn't tell anyone about the lemon extract. They loved them!
Colleen says
Lovely! SO fun that your granddaughter was your helper!
Diane says
Made these for dessert tonight. Awesome.
Rebecca says
I have family here for Thanksgiving and somehow, breakfast this morning slipped my mind! I found this recipe and decided to try it. I’m SO happy I did! They turned out so beautifully and they’re so delicious. I wish I had doubled the recipe. I might end up making another batch in a few min! Thanks for the great recipe!
Colleen says
That's wonderful to hear, thanks so much for the comment! Enjoy Thanksgiving with your family!!
Maru says
Would canned apple pie filling be ok in substitute for the diced apples?
Colleen says
I feel like that would be too much liquid and they would be a soggy mess. Not 100% sure since I never did this, just my gut.
Nita J says
We made these Christmas morning and they were so excellent!! Follow the recipe as printed.
We like them with the glaze drizzled over the top.
Thanks for a great recipe!!
Colleen says
Awesome!!! Hope your holidays were wonderful!
Rosemary C says
How much oil do you use? Should the batter be floating in oil when you drop it in ? I almost never fry anything but my husband loves apple fritters, so I have to try this recipe. Thanks.
Rachel says
I love this recipe. I'll be using this a base for all types of fruit fritters. Thank you!
Colleen says
I love hearing that!! TY!
Diane says
Do you have a carb count for this recipe?
Mae Martin says
Just made this apple fritters they are delicious simple and easy and delicious.. my husband love them ...I was expecting more of a cake texture but they were soft inside I did use half buttermilk and half milk but either way they was very very good
Colleen says
Awesome! Thanks for the feedback Mae (love your name BTW) Glad the hubs enjoyed them!
Karla says
I am dying to try these because they look delicious but am slightly hesitant because I have NEVER deep fried anything. Any tips for a first time fryer before I take these on?
Colleen says
Well, it really is not as scary as you think, lol...Meanwhile, I am over here afraid of yeast...or just lazy when it comes to the rising time etc, haha! OK....When I first started frying, I had a Cool Daddy Fryer, which they still make. It is amazing and SOOOO safe! That may be a good way to start. Either way, in a fryer or a pot, try just one at a time, until you nail it (not underdone and not overdone. You'll understand your pot and your heat source when it comes to frying (which differ by every single person frying that way). Make sure the oil is hot before you start, if your fritters brown too quickly and are mushy inside....the oil was too hot. Always feel free to slide a pot on and off the heat source to let it cool down just a bit. Hope that helps Karla, good luck!!
Karla says
Thanks for the tips! I'm determined to conquer my fear and give these a try today! Will let you know how it goes!
Colleen says
Awesome! Fingers crossed!
Shelby says
I’m making these tonight for the second time to take to the grandkids for a breakfast treat. I followed the directions exactly and they turned out delicious and everyone gobbled them up.
Colleen says
Hooray! Love hearing that and I hope the grandkids were happy and they request them often! That's what cooking is all about for me, making people happy through food! Can't wait to have grandkids one day!!
Barbara Hamilton says
Fritters were dark but delicious. ( had to cook a little longer, first fritter was still raw inside). I glazed some and sprinkled powdered sugar on some. Yummy.
Colleen says
Glad they came out! They are sinfully delicious!! I am making some Sunday morning for the kids who are sleeping over our house after the Junior Prom 🙂
Colleen says
That's great to hear! I am sure they are grateful!
Big Jilm says
One tip: if you use an ice cream scoop, make sure to flatten the dough out a bit. I cooked them round and they ended up being burned on the outside and raw in the middle. (370F oil, pan fried)
Leslie says
Well I’m gunna try this recipe and see if my daycare kids like em lol I’m sure they will I’m looking forward to trying these this afternoon
Mimi says
I just made these today and they are DELICIOUS! I used a cookie scooper so I dont have to use two spoon to drop it in the fryer. I also used almond milk instead of milk and they came out really yummy. I skip the sugar for the cinnamon sugar mix to not have too much sweetness. I am making these again when I finish this batch!
Colleen says
Love hearing this! It's been a few months since I have made them...Going to have to stat!
Linda Jackson says
Today I used store brand Walmart no sugar added apple pie filling in thi s recipe. It is preseasoned and did not require extra cinnamon or anything. I think they are quite good. I fried them and did not glaze. Just sifted a light dusting of powdered sugar. Yummy
Colleen says
Oh wow, apple pie filling. Good to know that worked Linda, thanks for the update!
Jasmine H. says
It was delicious!!
Colleen says
Great!
Patricia A Fleming says
I am making these now! I have a bag of apples and in a baking mood! ...plus, I love fritters! using half oat flour for added healthiness and suggestions for a tad more milk and more cinnamon please!
Colleen says
How did they turn out with oat flour? I have no experience using that as an ingredient.
ruby says
So,new at this and I used pie filling instead of apples. Big mistake, the sadist things you ave ever seen. Guess I will stick to paying $5.00 for four at the store. Bummer.
Colleen says
Oh no, lol! Maybe try again with fresh apples! You can do it!
Iz says
No milk so I used 1/2 almond milk and 1/2 homemade apple cider for the liquid. I doubled the recipe as 3 apples made about 4 cups of chopped apples. They are easy to make and excellent! Now I know what I'm going to do with all the apples I still have on the trees. 🙂
Can't seem to get the stars to update, I'll give it a 5!
Colleen says
Rockstar!! Great improvisations!
Barbara Correa says
Delicious! Simple and quick. I adjusted the sugar to 1/3 cup. It was perfect! Thanks for sharing this recipe ☺️
Colleen says
Great to hear Barbara! Thanks for the feedback!
Janice Langjan says
My Mom was as a good cook. She made many things
I'd like to tell you, my husband and I made the easy ones. They were easy and O did they taste good.
Thanks, they turned out good.
Bob and Janice Langjan, Valdosta Ga
Colleen says
Fantastic! Glad to hear it!
Nicole Clifton says
Can you use gluten free flour instead of all purpose? Thanks!
Colleen Mullaly says
A hit! Key is timing them while you fry and cook for 3 minutes. The last batch I got lazy and guessed and they were underdone. Also use a thermometer to keep an eye on the oil , mine were not greasy at all. Thanks!!!
Colleen says
Fantastic, Great to hear Colleen!
Colleen says
Either the oil needed to be hotter or deeper or they may have needed another 30 seconds or so. OR maybe made a little smaller. Hard to tell.
Jenny Burch says
Could you do these in the air fryer? If so what temperature and time?
Julie says
I didn't initially do these in the air dryer but I did reheat them in it. I put it at 400 for about 5 minutes.
Tee Ashe says
I made it to the LETTER..AMAZEBALLS. Good pl Country breakfast..Fried chicken and Fritters..YUMMMYYY💋
Colleen says
Awesome! And now I need fried chicken! That is something I need to perfect!
Jason Freeman says
Closest yet to a donut shop fritter I've made. I had to use a bit more milk to make the icing the proper consistency. I used Arkansas Black apples and stirred a tablespoon of lemon juice into them and allowed ten minutes to absorb before stirring in the cinnamon sugar mix. Other than that I followed the recipe. No discussion on who wanted the last one; it was just gone.
Colleen says
I love it! Thanks for the feedback Jason!! I have never had the opportunity to try that variety of apple. One day!
Susan says
Would these cook ok in a Fry Daddy, thank So!
Colleen says
Hi Susan. Yes!! I have cooked them in a Cool Daddy a number of times. Same difference 🙂
Julie Preston says
Found this recipe thru a Pinterest post. It's great as-is! Thanks - the kids will be surprised when they wake. What a treat! Happy New Year!
Colleen says
I hope they enjoyed them Julie! Happy 2020!
Debi says
Maked with bananas and pineapple chunks and dusted with powdered sugar
They are awesome 👍😊
Colleen says
Oh Yummmm!
Allison H Miller says
This was a perfect recipe and easy! I did use sour cream mixed with a little water instead of milk and my word these were so crispy on outside but soft in center. Thank you for sharing your awesome recipe! Family loves it!
Colleen says
Good to know Allison, especially if someone does not have milk on-hand. TY!
Cindy Hostetler says
I made these today about an hour before I served them . Next time I will
fry closer to serving time because they were quite soft. But, they were very good and I ate too many! Hubby lives them and commented how yummy they were. We live as missionaries in South Africa and
They were better
Than any donut we can purchase here compared to USA donuts or
Fritters!
Lois Kindrick says
Very good apple fritters, I made them with apple pie filling but took the apples out of the filling and sliced them smaller, very delicious!
Colleen says
Thanks Lois! Great to know it worked with apple pie filling!
Diana says
does it matter what type of oil you use
Colleen says
I use vegetable oil and it works fine. It is not as expensive as fancier oils and its flavorless.
Roelien Parkin says
I added a bit more milk and 1/2 cup of cocoa flour and turned them into choc fritters... it worked a treat! Thanks for the recipe!
Colleen says
LOVE that!! I'll have to try it. Thanks Roelien!
Karyn says
Divine and simple! Thankfully it doesnt make a huge batch...lol! Would be great for entertaining...quick and yummy!
Colleen says
Yes, I like that its just enough for 4...no temptation for too many lol!
Anuradha says
It did not come out runny at all if anything it was too dry! I had to add more milk .how much liquid does one egg make cause I used an egg replacer maybe that’s why?
Colleen says
Hi Anuradha, I am not sure about egg replacement since I myself have never tried that or to make the fritters without egg. The fritters do not come out dry, so maybe that was it?
Lupe Marsden says
We stopped going out to eat with the pandemic and getting donuts on Sundays was a family tradition. This recipe is our new family's Sunday tradition. My son says they are better than the donut shop!
Colleen says
THAT makes me so happy to hear!! Stay safe and well Lupe xoxo
Kirstin says
Ok, so I messed up & tried to make them too big when frying. They looked great on the outside, but we’re uncooked on the inside. I noticed AFTER icing them when I broke one apart. DON’T make them too big! However, I broke them all apart & popped them back into the still-hot oil. Guess what? The inside cooked perfectly, and the outside now had a slightly crispy sweet-fried texture. Oh. My. Goodness!!!! Yum!
Colleen says
Great you quickly adapted and fixed them! Thanks for sharing your experience Kristin!
Mailee James says
Can't wait to try this recipe. I love fritters. Does this recipe work with other fruit such as cherries. Or peaches??
Colleen says
Hi Mailee and yes, you can adapt this. Also on my website I have a recipe for Peach Fritters and Blueberry Fritters. Little changes make it work with just about any harder fruit. Here is the peach - https://soufflebombay.com/easy-peach-fritters/ and here is the blueberry - https://soufflebombay.com/easy-homemade-blueberry-fritters/ Have fun making and tasting!
Julie says
Yum yum!!!! So easy and fast. And sooooooo good! These will be added to my regular rotation. I rolled mine in cinnamon sugar.
Colleen says
Great to hear it Julie, now I want some!
Franca says
Can I make the dough ahead of time and then fry a few hours later.
Colleen says
That should be fine!
Jan says
Thank you so very much for posting this. Every fruit pie recipe. All I found was to bake them. My grandmother made them all the time and they were kept in the pie safe. Which was always filled with different pies ,cakes and these fried fruit pies. She probably never heard of cake flour all her cakes and pies were made with the same flour that she made those delicious biscuits 3 times a day. Oh and my grandmother never used milk or butter. It was not allowed in her house. You never tasted better baked goods then she put out. I use pure butter, milk, buttermilk and cream cheese and it still pales in comparison. Again thanks
Colleen says
You are very welcome! So glad you enjoyed these and great story!
Rose says
My husband loves his Apple Fritters, and he just had his 3rd one. First time I made Apple Fritters, and they were delicious. I did add a little more more milk to the dough, and used golden delicious apples. An apple and a half made exactly 1 1/2 cups chopped. I also used an Ice cream scoop, but only filled it half full. These fritters weren’t as much trouble to make as I thought they would be, so I will definitely be making them again.
Thanks for a great recipe!
Colleen says
Great to hear! They are finger-licking-good for sure & easy!

Can’t wait to try!!! Sounds delicious!! Wonder if I can get the crispy part!
Linda says
Thank you for sharing your great information. I read your blog daily . It give me so much knowledge and ideas.
Colleen says
I am not familiar with the tube stuff. The canned would make the batter too wet I would think, unless you can strain the liquid part away. Let me know if it works.
Colleen says
I do not think they would be great if frozen. Really meant to be enjoyed as you cook them.
Angel says
Wow These are the cutest!! I’m forwarding this recipe on to all my preschool teacher friends. Adorable!
C Bushby says
AMAZING!!! Never tried deep frying anything before and these are so quick to make start to finish... easy and SOOO delicious. Will definitely be making again ... and again
Colleen says
So great to hear that!!
Cathy says
I had a couple of extra apples leftover from the orchard and wanted to make something different with them. We couldn’t have dairy the day I made these. So I subbed unfiltered apple juice for the milk. They turned out delish!! I’m packing dry ingredients in ziplock bags for a quick breakfast treat while we’re camping. My first time making apple fritters and it was a huge success!!! I doubled the recipe and had no problems. I deep fried them in a pot and once I fiddled with the heat til it was right it was off to the races! My dad said he is putting in an order for 5,000 lol. Everyone loves them. Thanks for the recipe!!!
Colleen says
Awww, love it! And so glad you dad enjoyed!! Food=love in my world 🙂

Totally new at this! What kind of oil do you buy for frying? Vegetable?
Should I buy a fryer if I don't want oil all over my stove?
Colleen says
Yes, vegetable oil. If you are a first time fryer, using a fryer is a good idea (then you can make all sorts of fritters...calamari, coconut shrimp, donuts and more). They are just easy. I love the Presto Cool Daddy, even my kids could use it as tweens. Good luck!

Flavor was great but 3 minutes each side was not enough time to cook them through. I popped them in the oven at 350 degrees for 7 minutes to finish them up and they are perfect. Next time I'll thin the batter a bit more so they aren't so thick and fry more evenly.
Colleen says
Glad you figured it out and enjoyed them!

This morning my husband said, ‘I have such a hankering for Apple fritters!’ So I made your recipe, and he ate SIX of them! Needless to say, it was a hit! Definitely will file this one when I need a quick 10 minute fix! Thank you so much!
Colleen says
Woot! That makes me happy! Glad he enjoyed these!

As a Philly guy, I would never speak bad about TastyKakes, but have your tried them recently? They are not the same. So sad.
Colleen says
I have not! I will happily hold my memories of what they were in my youth 🙂 Sadly everything has changed or is changing 🙁

It is declishious.. I even left out the cinnoman sugar on accident I loved them I ate three. As for the biscuit mix stuff I wouldn't bother. If they don't like your's let them go make there on, and make their own blog as well, I don't think the light and fluffy of pastry is the same as a biscuit. I loved this.

These were great! Additionally you can add a little nutmeg. You also can make them a little bigger if you tease them apart wider with two forks when they are first dropped in the oil.
Colleen says
Glad you enjoyed and great tips! TY

Colleen says
For this I use vegetable oil.

Love these apple fritters 🙂 the only thing that I added is after I chop my apples, I toss them in lemon juice to keep them bright and to balance the flavor of the apples.
I have better luck using a candy thermometer with my oil @350* adjusting it slightly to account for the drop in temp each time I start a new batch. Thanks for the great recipe
Colleen says
Great tips Heather! Glad you enjoy them!

Very easy for me but I was wondering if you can use a fry daddy for frying that has a temp control? I used a cast iron and you know how that goes, when it gets hot it gets hot so I had to keep adjusting the temp. But they were super easy and will make again thankyou for the recipe
Colleen says
Yes you can, I first made it years ago using a fry daddy the cool daddy and it works great batch after batch.
