How to Make A Chocolate Martini

Making this homemade martini is so easy, follow these simple steps and you 'll be sipping on one in no time.

    1. Break your chocolate up into bite-sized pieces.
    2. In a pot combine chocolate pieces, cream, water and sugar over medium heat stir mixture until chocolate is melted and mixture is smooth – like hot chocolate. *Do not bring to a boil*
    3. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla.
    4. Allow the mixture to cool to room temperature,
    5. Store in the fridge in a sealed bottle or jar until chilled.
    6. Add in vodka, start with ½ cup, shake (or stir) mixture and taste. Add in another ¼ cup of vodka...shake and taste and finally add in the last ¼ cup (if you choose...we all like our cocktails at different strengths). You can always add more as well.
    7. If it's too thick, you can always add water.
    8. Store in the fridge until ready to serve.
    9. *I like to pop it in the freezer for a ½ hour before drinking, mmm!
    10. When ready to enjoy, shave a little chocolate for rimming your glass or topping the martini.
    11. Shake mixture very well and pour directly into your glasses...You can use a cocktail shaker with ice as well and strain it out. It's up to you.
    12. Mixture keeps for a week in your fridge.
This Homemade Chocolate Martini is everything you have dreamed a chocolate martini could be!

    Storage

This chocolate martini recipe can be stored in a sealed jar or bottle in your fridge for up to one week.

    Tips

    • If your mixture is too thick, you can always add a little water to thin it out.
    • I like to put my chocolate martini mix in the freezer for a half hour before serving. It's up to you!
    • Feel free to rim your glass with chocolate or top your martini with a chocolate garnish.
    • If you want to rim your glass you can get extra fancy and rim the glass with frosting and chocolate shavings or chocolate Jimmie style sprinkles.
    • I strongly recommend using a high quality chocolate.

Do you have questions about this creamy Chocolate Martini recipe? Here are the answers to the most commonly asked questions for this recipe.

What is a chocolate martini made of?

A chocolate martini is typically made with vodka, chocolate liqueur, or a homemade chocolate mixture.

What food goes with chocolate martinis?

Chocolate martinis pair well with a variety of foods. Some ideas are fruits, nuts,  cheeses, or chocolate desserts.

How strong this chocolate martini recipe?

This drink has a slight kick of alcohol, but the chocolate flavor is still the dominant taste. If you want a stronger drink, add more vodka to the recipe.

    Variations

    • Instead of making our own chocolate cream mixture, you can save a little time and use Godiva's chocolate liqueur.
    • For a fun twist, try using peppermint vodka instead of regular vodka.
    • If you want to make this recipe kid-friendly, leave out the alcohol and add an extra splash of cream.
    • You can also add more flavor to this cocktail by using vanilla vodka for this recipe.
    • You can use semi-sweet chocolate to make your creamy chocolate mixture if you aren't a fan of dark chocolate.

    Notes

This makes about 8 servings. You can certainly have the recipe.
I like to make this ahead of time, without the vodka, and keep it chilled.
When ready to serve, add desired amount of vodka based off of individual preferences (or add what I suggested), and make 1-2 at a time in a cocktail shaker with ice and pour into a martini glass.
Add additional water, or vodka to make it thinner or to your preference.
