Easy Easter Egg Marshmallow Treats For Kids

I have always loved surprising my kids, as well as their friends and classmates, with fun foods. I mean why not? A little effort and they just get so excited, and it makes me happy too!

Why you'll love this food craft for kids

  • This Easter Rice Krispie Treat recipe is simple to make.
  • Use colorful Fruity Pebbles cereal, Rice Krispies or whichever cereal you wish that will work for this.
  • When kids help in the kitchen they learn SO much. Math, scrience, reading etc. Plus they learn planning, organization and follow through. Feel confidant and so much more.
  • These are a fun make ahead treat they can help make or they can gift these for family and friends.
  • Spending time with the kids in the kitchen, at any age, is priceless!

Ingredients

  • butter
  • mini marshmallows
  • vanilla
  • salt
  • Fruity Pebbles or your preferred cereal

Tips

Wash and dry your plastic eggs ahead of time. Spray lightly with baking spray to ensure they come out easily.

This recipe will fill 9 standard plastic Easter eggs, however you can also use the smaller version, which are great for snacking or tucking into the kiddos lunchbox.

The kids may also enjoy making (and eating) these No Bake Rice Krispy Cookies with peanut butter for added protein.

Easter Rice Krispie Treats shaped like an egg

As far as any real hard boiled Easter eggs, I do a crazy-fun Giant Deviled Egg as a way to use up leftover Easter eggs or to be extra festive on Easter.

Holidays often bring our creative juices when it comes to making fun treats for the kids. Just think of the surprise and delight on your little ones faces when they lay their eyes on these delicious egg-shaped creations!

Have fun making these marshmallow treats with the kiddos! XO - Colleen

Ingredients

  • 4 TBS butter
  • 10 oz marshmallows
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla
  • Dash of salt
  • 5 cups Fruity Pebbles or your preferred cereal
  • Special Equipment: Plastic Easter eggs

Instructions

  • Wash your plastic eggs in warm soapy water, dry fully.  Spray the eggs with a light coating of baking spray and set aside.
  • In a large pot, melt your butter over medium heat, add in the marshmallows and stir continuously until marshmallows have melted, remove from heat.
  • Stir in the vanilla, salt and cereal and stir until combined and marshmallow mixture is evenly disbursed throughout the cereal.
  • Using a large spoon, scrape out enough cereal to fill each side of the eggs.  You want to pack it in yet still allow the eggs to close.
  • Once all eggs are full, place them in your refrigerator (or other cool place) and allow them to set. Once set, remove them from the eggs and enjoy.

Notes

Colleen's Notes: The treats will usually release easily with just a bit of a wiggle.  If you run into trouble, gently run a butter knife around the perimeter of the side the egg may be sticking to.

Smaller cereal pieces work best.
