These Cajun Green Beans just so happen to be low carb and gluten free. The have great flavor as well. This green bean side dish is perfect for anyone trying to eat a little healthier and its a great garden green bean recipe.

These Cajun Green Beans make for a healthy after-school snack, a great appetizer served alongside some remoulade for dipping, or a perfect side dish for fish or meats.

My son up until freshman year in high school, ate cut green beans from a can like it was his job! He was obsessed and wouldn't give fresh green beans a chance. My husband also can eat a whole can of green beans, happily. Me? Not so much.

Once my son finally gave fresh green beans a chance, he never looked back. He loves this recipe, as well as these simple Skillet Green Beans and this copycat recipe for Spicy Asian Green Beans. He also loves adding them to a beef stir fry that he makes often.

    Ingredients

    • Fresh green beans
    • Avocado or olive oil
    • Cajun Seasoning, salt & black pepper
    • Wedge of fresh lemon

This fresh green bean recipe is quick to make and goes with just about any beef, pork or poultry dish.

    Variations

    • Swap Cajun for blackening seasoning (very similar)
    • Use no salt or low salt Cajun seasoning (along with a little S&P)
    • Add in some crispy bacon peices.
    • Cook in bacon grease or butter vs store-bought oil.
    • Add in chopped onion and a clove or two of chopped garlic.

    Storage

Store in a small sealed container and reheat the following day. These however are best the day you make them.

I like food with a kick and these spicy green beans do not disappoint! They are not burn your mouth spicy, instead they are pleasantly spicy with Cajun flair.

    Enjoy! XO Colleen

    Ingredients

    • 1 Pound Green Beans
    • 1 ½ TBS grapeseed or olive oil
    • Cajun Seasoning to taste
    • Kosher salt & black pepper Just a bit to give the green beans the proper seasoning
    • fresh lemon wedge

    Instructions

    • Prep your green beans by cleaning them up and snipping any ends necessary. Keep them whole or cut them into bit sized pieces.
    • Heat oil in a non-stick skillet or frying pan. Add in your green beans and saute for 1 minute.
    • Add in Cajun seasoning, salt and pepper.
    • Cook for 5-7 more until either crisp-tender or cooked to your liking. Add in a TBS or two of water to help them along. Cover with a lid.
    • Just before serving, spritz with a little fresh lemon juice, toss and serve.

    Notes

Depending on the Cajun seasoning you have...it may or may not be salty. If it is not salty, add in some salt.
If you prefer your green beans cooked through, add a TBS or so of water to the pan to allow them to cook through.
